Bubble Tea is Overrated

It wasn’t until yesterday that I noticed how incredibly of rip off bubble tea is. For $5 / ~500ml of sugar water and artificial balls that they call pearls, I could get a frappuccino at Starbucks, which is also a rip off.

Think about it — going into a cheap Chinese place, ordering a cup of sugar water looking like you are on drugs, waiting for five minutes while the sugar-addicted drug addict who works there pours sugar and balls into a cup, seals it, and shakes it right in front of you — is that healthy? Not to mention the money you pay, the expense of your health from drinking pure sugar water and eating balls is significant considering you paid $5 for it.

So for the sake of your health, don’t buy bubble tea.

*laughs* That’s hilarious. Then again, it can’t be all bad. Bubble tea is yummy, though it can’t hold a candle to anything from Starbucks.

You know though, that getting the tea can be better for your health (surprisingly) since apparently some of the frappucinos a Starbucks can run upwards of 700 calories. Ouch.

Sadly I feel surprisingly little for the plight of the weatshop workers you talked about. I mean, when you use 3rd world slave labour to clean your house, you just don’t worry so much about those that actually get paid. See? Good life! XD

lol…..I’ve seen these before but its usually like 12 -14 year olds I see with them. The people that sell them must make like 1000% profit.

How do you think they earn money from drinks by earning like 5% profit then?

I think bubble tea is good if you choose the right flavors. Please, for the love of jebus, don’t order like taro root and fill your cake holes with powdery artificial preservative-color-chemical goodness. Its really not good for you. And who the hell drinks taro root anyways. You EAT it, you don’t drink it.

Bubble tea is a rip I had it at a culture fair once and it wasnt worth the money, thats not to say the “pearls” didn’t leave me unsatisfied, the tea however was sub-par. Then again it was at a culture fair where the italy food booth had dominos pizza.

$5?!?!?! which bubble tea house did you go?!?!?

See right there. The fact that they call it a “tea house” makes it worse. It’s just some cheap shack with an old blender.

It costs about $5 everywhere you go.

Where I live Bubble Tea is less then $3. Yeah it is definately full of sugar, but then again I don’t think it is meant to be consumed like you would water. It is probably on par with having ice cream.

I guess either I’m going to a really expensive bubble tea place or I’m getting ripped off :(
