AllOfAVI and AllOfEXE

AllOfMP3 has got to be the website I purchase the most stuff from (and probably the only one). I’m so fancied by their simplicity and price that I wish I could download movies and legal software like this. Snap!

Imagine a service that you could download DVD quality (DVD ripped) movies for the same price as AllOfMP3. $0.02 for 1MB — $12 for 600MB of a movie. Might as well get a DVD with $12. What if the price is lowered? Say, to $4 / movie. Would you buy it? How about a service that charges only 10% of the market prices of software? Buy Windows XP for $20, legally. Would you buy it?

My guess is no you won’t, especially for software. When you buy software you are buying a license and probably support, which I doubt will come with a $20 Windows XP. How about movies? Not so much either since it’s not something we can burn onto a CD/DVD and watch later unlike a music CD. Also, it’s a one time thing, once we’ve watched it, we are pretty much done with it, unlike music which we can listen to over and over again.

It seems AllOfMP3 hit the target of distribution of data over the Internet. I’ve been using allTunes as well, which is fantastic for previewing full-length songs at 96kps.

    I dunno, it would be debatable about the target market. It kind of goes towards those more technically oriented (many are uncomfortable with technology) and it also is limited like you said with the Windows.

    Plus, it’s sometimes nice to have the physical real thing itself, that’s why I buy DVDs, it’s nice to hold it in your hands. ^^;;

    anyone know where to buy music for cheap besides allofmp3? They don’t seem to have much underground and indie rock type music.

    Underground and indie music don’t make it oversea, and only oversea companies like AllofMP3 (they are located in Russia) sell cheap music due to loop holes with international piracy. There might be sum, but you’ll have to look around more.
