It’s crucial that the human consciousness thinks in a linear fashion so we get the result we want. However, the physical structure — the brain — containing consciousness is actually a multitasker that processes many demands simultaneously.
The brain is not one but many central processing units. In fact, each cell is technically a processing unit. It has its purpose — make use of physical inputs, be it electrical signals or chemicals, and returns physical outputs, very much like a computer CPU. The brain has many of these CPU’s packed in the head. How do these actually work? It’s hard enough to balance 4 computer CPU’s to make a computer efficient.
To be honest, I have no idea how it works. But I can offer an interpretation of these cells. They seem interconnected, as they were once one cell which divided into many. It’s like that feeling twins have; they can feel others’ emotions. It all pieces together to become a greater whole.
The output of the brain doesn’t necessarily become combined, though. Signals are sent all over the body, and each part is told to do its part. The brain acts like a control center for every part of the body to work towards that greater whole.
The most amazing thing I find about the brain is that it can’t figure out how it works exactly, no matter how much it thinks. It’s like the brain is hardwired to hide itself from its physical mechanisms to prevent danger.
You must be sharing my thoughts Oliver… ive just wrote an article on a very similar subject (http://www.stevetucker.co.uk/page-slow_down_egg_head.php).
Great article though. Really enlightening. Cheers :)
