My order finally arrived this morning.
WOW am I blown away by the quality of these cans. I now hear lower frequency bass lines and hi-hats very clearly, unlike with previous earbuds / speakers. I will soon need a quality sound card to drive these because right now I can hear clicks and cracks. The HD580 are also unbelievably (yes unbelievably) comfortable. The cushions/padding seem to be made for my slightly-larger-than-average head. Glasses fit perfectly as well.
I’ve read reviews about these headphones, and they all seem to agree that I would need a headphone amplifier. I’m surprised these work perfectly with the iPod alone, at medium volume. Using computer as the source also serves no problem at all.
I had to get these shipped from TTVJ as Canadian retails do not carry this model, and 90% of online stores that have these do not ship to Canada. All for $179 USD without shipping costs or the damn Canadian taxes.
Headphones are a must for any serious coder if you ask me. I recently purchased a pair of Sony MDR-XD200’s. The sound is pretty good on them, but I miss my old Technics pair. Saying that, with a price tag of $179USD I doubt they were as good as yours!
