Beta Testing (mt) Grid Server

It’s been a while here. I’ve been testing Media Temple’s new shared server, also known as (gs) Grid Server, for the last couple of days. I have to say, it is very promising. The development team is cooperative too. If you were thinking about Media Temple hosting your site, you will like the new (gs) very much.

Sexy as any (mt) product. I second the recommendation of using Media Temple (especially once (gs) goes public)

Apart from bandwidth which has already gone up in (ss), have there been any other upgrades? Also, do you have any idea when they will launch it?

(mt)’s Sneak Peek page. The features there are pretty much it.

I’d say they’ll launch it soon. I know “soon” is too vague — about a month. They are still working out some bugs and features. In a week or so we’ll probably start the stability tests.

August 7th we start full stability tests and migrations- just in case you missed the post (it’s new).

Lots of new things, great new things…

Shhh. We are beta testers and we have to tease the others!

I’m dying for mediatemple to officially announce their new (gs) plan. I signed up for the beta test, but applied too late. :-( The customer service reps promise it will come out “soon” and I’ve been obsessively checking the site everyday. I know, i’m sick.

I know the feeling. I really need some of the GS features like RoR and php5 _urgently_. I hope it doesn’t get pushed back a few more weeks :(

It’s August 14th, and still no annoucement of the new (gs) system. I emailed their customer service department again, and was told it’d come out “very soon”. So vague…

I too need php5, I developed my latest site to php5 standards and it doesn’t seem to be working on php4. It must be coming out soon… surely!

The Grid Server has both versions of php and you can set which version to use.

Any updates on this? I keep searching technorati and the web but no one is saying anything else about updates. Can you clue us sad ss4.0 users in a bit more? :)

  13. 13October 3rd, 2006Oliver Zheng says

The sneak peek says it all actually. ;)

except for a launch date. ;)

    That’s why it’s called a sneak peek :)

It has been launched publicly and is now available. I’m very interested in using Grid Server as a platform for startup companies that need the elasticity.

Pricing, however, is not fully disclosed for additional GPU’s or bandwidth.
