:)
So in the next few weeks it should be available?
Wait and see :)
The wait is killing me. I think (mt) made a huge mistake when they announced the new features publicly and added the sneek preview to their website. That little “in beta” message has been plaguing my dreams.
If the rational was to get beta testers to apply, I would have prefered they invite specific qualified users privately and kept it all a secret. If the rational was to advertise next generation features — they jumped the gun and did more harm than good in my opinion.
Since you may have the ear of the (mt) staff, would you mind suggesting that they setup a corporate blog and use it to keep their customers informed. This whole beta period could have been easier if there were a steady flow of updates as to the progress.
I’m sure the El Segundo Data Center relocation has had some impact on the postponed launch of the new services.
Well, thanks for giving some what of an update here on your site. Sorry for ranting at (mt) in your comments, I just had to let it out somewhere.
I don’t see what you mean by “huge mistake.” I think it was advertisement delivered at best. It’s got everyone’s attention and I bet there is a hype around it too. But I guess to (mt) customers, it seemed a little pretentious.
I’ll pass along the message about a company blog. I always wanted to see more interaction from (mt) as well.
I was somewhat joking with the “huge” part of the mistake. What I was trying to say was that I would have preferred that (mt) put up a sneak peek and then a month later it launched.
I guess it just would be nice if there had been an official no-speculative updates in late August or early September. Something that communicated that progress was being made and maybe some idea of when it might launched, i.e. a blog.
Well Oliver, it looks like you were correct. (mt) MediaTemple has updated their teaser page for the grid server, declaring that it will launch the new platform this month (October).
With only twenty days to go I am crossing my fingers. I wonder if the data center transition was the biggest obstacle.
